COURSE SCHEME

USVCee Fashion – Garment Construction (level 1) Course Scheme.

Week One(1) – Introduction to Fashion/ History of Fashion & Industry Structure. Milestone:- A brief  Submission on the Nigerian fashion arena.

Week Two  (2) – Learning How to use the Manual sewing Machine, Milestone:-  Cutting  & sewing on Brown Paper & calico, make an Apron or bag.

Week Three (3) – Taking measurements and understanding types of seam finishes, and Necklines. Milestone:- Produce the seam finishes and at least three necklines.

Week Four(4) – Learning How to sew  Female traditional wear (Iro & Buba). Milestone:- Produce and  submit the Iro & Buba.

Week Five(5) –  Learning to Sew ‘BouBou’ An African female wear. Milestone:- Produce and submit the BouBou.

Week Six(6) –  Learning to make; Gathered, Circle skirt and Pleated Skirt. Milestone:-Produce one Circle skirt and any other type of skirt and submit

Week Seven (7) – Introduction to pattern drafting. Milestone:- Produce at least ‘4’skirt block Patterns and submit & Make  a straight skirt from the pattern and submit.

Week Eight(8) – Learn How to produce Flared and Panelled skirts from Patterns. Milestone:- Produce one Flared Skirt and one panel Skirt and Submit.

Week Nine(9) –  Learn how to produce Gored skirts and bodice block in pattern drafting. Milestone:-  Produce a gored skirt and a simple dress from your patterns.

Week Ten (10) – Learn the sleeve Block and a slightly more complicated dress block. Milestone:-  Produce a dress with sleeve for submission.

Week Eleven (11) – Choose  a dress block or design to produce for your term project. Milestone:-  Produce and submit for your project runway show.

Week Twelve (12) –  Presentation and Final Assessment with tips on Free hand sewing.
